Winter Vacation: OK, so it wasn't exactly a hike, but we did spend some time out in Lake Tahoe at Mark & Mika's cabin. We chose a perfect time to go - it was actually snowing most of the weekend. This powdery soft snow fall was Aria's first.
We did make some footprints out in the snow at an outdoor frisbee golf course where we got some puffy baby "star" photos...
This weekend's cabin guests: Mark, Mika, Aiden, Brian, Ranica, Aria, Mike & Suporn.
Halloween Hike:Another smaller group today (we missed you Jib!) so we went to another close by hiking trail - Coyote Hills in Fremont. We ventured out on a climb in super foggy weather, and still had enough time to get back in time for Aria's first Halloween (see link to our Halloween album below for our little Princess Leia).
Rating: Pros: close by, different trails so can pick and choose level of hike, great view; Cons: can be foggy most of the time (and cold).
Difficulty: We chose a steeper climb this time
Today's Hiking Group:Brian, Ranica, Aria, Mike, Suporn, & Jam
Aria's First Pumpkin Patch:We visited J.E. Perry Farms, in Ardenwood today to give Aria a first experience at a pumpkin patch. We'll probably need to go back again next year so Aria will remember any of it though. For now, we have lots of photos were taken with the pumpkins, cutouts, corn maze, and on the giant haystack.
Since we were a smaller group today, we decided to go to a nearby hiking trail: Garin/Dry Creek Regional Parks in Hayward. We were pleasantly surprised that such a beautiful view (of the Hayward Industrial district and Mission) and a nice garden was so close by our home. Hopefully, we will be able to come out more often for a quick hike.
Aria's First Hike:We decided to take Aria on her first hike ever today. Hopefully, she will take to the great outdoors when she gets older because of this early start (at less than 3 months old). Mom & Dad traded off strapping her to them while trekking through the Redwood Regional Park in Oakland. It was a great adventure and a pretty steep climb for our first hike.
Rating: Pros: tall trees in the forest, interesting scenery; Cons: a slightly longish drive from home.
Difficulty: A reasonably steep climb, but is do-able if you take it slow.
